I’m living in Vietnam, and for the past two nights i’ve woken up with itchy red spots on my arms and legs. My skin feels irritated so I start to itch and the bumps appear. I know they aren’t mosquito bites because I’ve gotten those before, these are different. This evening, I showered and put on a new dress. But, as I was sitting downstairs watching tv I got two more bumps. I slept on a different bed in another room, and during my sleep on the new bed I got more bumps. They are extremely itchy and reallly annoying. Can bugs stay on your body and only start to bite at night? I’m going to start an all out cleaning frenzy tomorrow with my mattress, clothes, and room, but it’s Tet right now, which means all markets are closed so I need to try some home remedies before I try to find chemicals to use. Is this a bug problem or could it be something that’s wrong with my body?

My boyfriend and I moved into a new apartment a few months ago, and since then we’ve been experiencing a ridiculous amount of bug bites. We do keep the door to our deck cracked open a bit during the day, but the bites seem to occur at night while we’re asleep. My hunch is that it’s bed bugs. I’ve never seen an actual bug or the traces of one (fecal matter or shells), but there are a couple small blood spots on our sheets.
We’re both clean people and I change our bedding regularly. I’m not sure where their hideout is, or where they even came from. They may have hitched a ride on some furniture during the move, or quite possibly they were a house-warming gift from the cleaning crew of our apartment complex–how thoughtful!
Anyway, my questions: Has anyone else had this problem after a recent move? Could it be something other than bed bugs? Is there a cheap home remedy to get rid of them?
