Are there any ways to get rid of bed bugs and are there any things that can help with bed bug bites?
Angelo asked:
What can get rid of bed bugs and soothe or just plain get rid of the biting? Please help. I can’t get a good night’s sleep with these things.
there were bed bugs in my sis in laws apartment at school and they had to throw the beds out and get new ones plus fog the house to get them out.
Go to a home goods store like Lowes and ask about bug extermination products. If I were you, I would just trash the bed mattress and get a new one, I hear those things are almost impossible to get rid of.
For the bites, the only thing I know of is a bug bite cream of some sort, look in the over the counter ointments aisle for that type of thing.
Asprin! It thins your blood and makes you unappetizing.
One tablet per day.
Fish oil and/or ginko bilbo are alternatives to asprin
but do not use with asprin or your blood will get too
thin and you will get nasty nosebleeds and internal bleeding.
Coumadin is good too, but you need a doctor’s prescription to get it.
Of course, use bedbug specific sprays and keep all
clutter out of your sleeping area so they have few places to run and hide. I have bedbugs in my high class building in
suburban NYC, but they have not bothered me , A friend told me about this survival technique for urban living and it works.
The best answer would be to get rid of the bed and call an exterminator.
If you can’t afford that use Mule Team Borax from the laundry detergent section of the store. Pour it onto the mattress, box springs, under the bed. Wash sheets in HOT water and dry all bedding in a HOT dryer. Walk the Borax into the mattress. It will kill them within a day or two. I would actually just leave the Borax in the mattress and put bedding over it. You might also consider using a plastic mattress cover.
Old bites? I would assume steroids like hydro-cortisone for itching. If you have an infection from scratching you need some antibiotics.
If bedbugs rehatch from the eggs already in the bed then reapply borax in a week.
Bed bugs exist naturally in our environment and there is no way that you will get rid of them ENTIRELY.
However, you can control them. You can do this by washing sheets and blankets consistently and often. BUT, you will need to buy a new pillow every at least 6 months if when you pick it up it feels heavy. This means it is full of bed bugs and other “things” that you don’t want or need. Also, your mattress is full of the things. And well, i might suggest that if you cannot afford a new one, that you vacuum yours out immediately and then spray with Lysol.
They do sell mattresses that will cut down on the amount of bed bugs you get, however they are extremely pricey.
Good night, sleep tight… don’t let those bed bugs bite!!
you are going to have to get rid of that mattress.. have the carpets proffessionally cleaned, bomb the place at least once! Make sure they are really gone, before buying another mattress. They will live in the carpet and in any surrounding furniture. The bugs are nocturnal so they bite at night. The only bug spray that we found that worked is RAID for roaches and fleas…. it is in the purple can. Spray your mattress with it and it might help you sleep until you get the other stuff taken care of. It is the permethins (?) in the spray that make it effective.
Its rough and its gonna take a lot…. good luck, and i feel your pain!!
As for the itching….. hydrocortsone cream, baking soda paste….. i have been told that bugs hate the smell of garlic and vitamin B your body gives off…maybe try this and they wont be so hungry for you anymore!
You can also try covering up as much skin as possible when you sleep so they cant get to you.
